"Same here, it amazes me how quickly these things link to new sites we put up. Anybody have any idea why they bother? I just don’t see how doing this helps them."

It seems like they come from automated programs, designed to create pages upon pages of albeit stolen content with the goal of actually ranking for certain terms without having to put in any real work on developing a site. That's just my opinion though. I really find it hard to believe that an actual human created this spammy sites with these ridiculous URLs.
