I need to redirect my site (that ranks well on yahoo and MSN) from [subdomain.olddomain.com...] to [newdomain.com....] What 301 code should I be using?

Also, if someone could provide me a link to a good step-by-step approach on how to go about the redirect procedure, that would be helpful.
