interesting....

so much of this is right outta the Yahoo Korea page books. Lots of the new features and look has been standard on Yahoo Korea fooooreeeever (some for years). Certainly, so for its competors out here as well. EG: That "Buzz log. What the world is searching for" section is a such a basic Korean Yahoo element that is accessible from the main menu (next to search bar). It is on all portals here in fact.

Additionally, there are still a bunch MORE Yah Korea elements still not present in that new look that I bet they will get around to integrating in the future as well (like Knowledge Search).

In general, I don't mind being as bold as to say: most of the newest portal area ideas, technology and features, etc you will see in the future will be coming from Asia back to the US (particularily from Korea).

Sure, many of the big ideas are still starting in the US and coming here (like blogs and PPC (bid-based) ads)...but the Korean market takes it all and runs and goes well beyond what you see in the US market in 1/googleth the time (haha). Its one of the things Asia has ALWAYS been best at (copying and taking it to the "next level". Granted that is often a good and bad thing. but that's another story). I've posted extensively on this topic for a while now, so its nothing new for those that hang in the Asia forum.^^

But I've said it once, I'll say it again.....

everyone in the US/english speaking world should prepare for the Korean portal (feature) invasion---in one form or another. (Recent example: Daum just recently purchased Lycos....and I've said my piece on why before).

And if you want a crystal ball (for a good chunk of things to come in the industry -- US side)....just learn how to browse a Korean portals and sites.

No joke.
