From "planning to acquire" as reported in the initial article above, it now appears to be a done deal.

    From the second article,
    "The buyout will provide a springboard for our company to venture into the U.S. Internet market and become a global player," the company said in a statement.

    This comes as Daum is reported [yonhapnews.net] to have been overtaken by NHN as Sth Korea's most-visited portal.
