---- Facebook Should Be In China, Says Baidu

Hugene - 4:09 pm on Dec 22, 2010 (gmt 0)

FB shouldn't be in China. Censorship works at two levels: 1) at the source (Gogle SERPS self-censoring) 2) at the network transmition level (the Great Wall)

But when censoring at the source, Google is simply modifying some machine-created output. To censor FB at the source would require FB to monitior all content created by the users, and remove some of it. It is one thing to silence an algorithm (not that I like that), but it is way worse to silence what a real human has written.

Until China stops censoring its citizens, I don't see whjat the point of FB being there would be.

One thing is for sure, if FB goes there, it will be hacked the hell out of it by the government.
