The travel sector is a bit different - lots of money being spent on display advertising, so for a good looking site with quality information, you could probably look at charging anywhere from 5-10 times what Adsense pays.

Also, leveraging social media channels, newsletter sponsorship, paid reviews (for products, etc), competitions are all very common travel blogger monetisation methods for travel sites (independent blogs). If you could work with advertisers to create a campaign specifically for them (e.g. paid review, ads on the site, backed up with newsletter sponsorship to drive traffic to a competition which is designed to drive social media traffic), you could effectively charge a premium.

There are loads of travel blogs, etc will provide you with rate cards if you want to get a ballpark figure of what to charge,
