Building a brand separate from your persona is nice if you want to sell the business later. If it is, in fact, a business that can be sold. You can't sell out later if you're selling your "self" (your persona, not just services you do or products you make).
If you're prone to religious essays and informal rants, then keep your business blog separate. Move domains or rename it or rebrand, those are all options, but I'd suggest that prospective clients aren't interested in vacation photos and updates on how your foot surgery is healing.
I can think of more reasons to keep them separate than incentives to amalgamate them together.
