I do have an established relationship with a couple of local banks. I completely agree re: personal relationships - though I have had great luck with getting funding for small loans <$5K that way. Cash in my account within 24 hours if I need it. Rates aren't fabulous (about 9%) but they beat a credit card and the terms are between 1-3 years. I've only had to do this to cover operating expenses a couple of times and it has been handy.
