It can really vary depending on what is involved with your redesign. Whether the programmers have to work with existing code or create their own, or maybe you just want a cosmetic makeover.
I've hired all kinds of designers and coders to build quite a few sites now and I have found that it usually costs between $5000 to $7000 to get one of my ideas to go live, be making money and be bug free.
Even when I try to get a cheap deal up front I still end up having to hire someone else to do fixes and changes or add new features that the cheap guys weren't capable of doing.
The hardest part about these projects was finding the right people to do the job.
