paypal can be an easy and affordable way to accept credit cards. it's great for accepting payment from those that already have a paypal account, are web savvy, or those that are not shy about a new online payment system. don't rely on it as your lone source for taking cc's though. this is especially the case for an e-commerce site. i can't tell you how many bitching emails i have seen first hand and heard about ripping the paypal method of cc payment. the problem is that paypal makes each buyer sign up for a paypal account in order to make a simple payment to a merchant. customers don't want another account, they just want to put in their card number and go. if you rely on online sales, make sure you have a real merchant account. paypal is fine for an additional option, there are many people with paypal accounts because it is very big at ebay and other auction sites and also with the college age market. hope this helps.
