I'd like to ask 2 questions regarding correct Nofollow tag usage.
The role of Nofollow links and the way Google are handling them has been changed more than once during the years - so I'm a little confused when it comes to implementing the tag:
1. My domain is offering, among other things, widgets for webmasters. At the bottom of each widget there's a visible to Search Engines HTML link.
As we all know, Matt Cutts has specifically mentioned that these kind of links can hurt us:
Is tagging the links with Nofollow enough?
How to address this issue when getting a new link (next to a widget) from a quality, authoritative new site?
To your opinion, what's the best practice in such case?
2. In one of the site’s main sections, there are about 1000 pages linking each to a high quality - government site as references (The domain has about 13M pages indexed).
These are quality, authoritative sites. From a user point of view, linking to them is important and gives the site credibility.
Should I place Nofollow on these links, or leave them as they are?
Again, what would be the best practice?
