That's a great point that too many forget I think.
That's awesome! Here's a challenge: Next time we ask ourselves "how do I rank better?" lets instead ask "how does our site become an expected result?". That's gold right there.
Step 1. Get people's attention outside of google.
Step 2. Repeat step 1.
a+b+c+d = expected result
If people know you outside of google they would be more likely to expect to find you on google.
How many people are going to search for something today, see an Amazon result and say "hmm, what's this Amazon thing?"?
