My website is broken up into groups of pages (for example: Maine, Vermont, etc...). Say, 5 pages per section (state).
From each state's pages, I've cherry picked some FYI facts. Each fact is associated with a link that links directly to the page and paragraph where that fact comes from on my site (so they can get "more information" about it).
I've then taken these FYI facts and organized them, by state, into their own page.
Each of the state's core pages then has a button/link ("click here for FYI facts about Maine") to that state's FYI page.
The whole idea is that this FYI page is just something that someone might scroll down, and possibly find interesting and click the link and go visit that page (more page views, more time on site). Just another way to discover content on this site.
The content of each FYI page is not necessarily duplicate content but it is certainly duplicated content (as in the same information is discussed more thoroughly on other pages).
How does this page look to Google? Since in many ways this page doesn't stand on its own, and is such a hodgepodge of varied subjects, should I use NOINDEX/FOLLOW?
Second question: If I NOINDEX these pages, does that mean that another site can duplicate my FYI page content and be seen by Google as the original author (since my copy of the page is not in the Google index)? Or does Google somehow also keep track of content on pages that aren't in it's index?
