@HuskyPup, I think that is the point. Every move that Google has made over the past year plus has been to keep users on their own pages. Knowledge graph, this image search update, and other integration all fit to that. More money in their own pockets.
Like it or not, each one of us is their competition for $$$. If you have a gallery, they can easily steal those pics (legally) and only send the user to your site if they find a specific image they enjoy, click on it, then actually want to click AGAIN on the tiny "Visit page" button that a normal user likely won't even see.
I honestly don't get how this isn't copyright theft. They display the ENTIRE image now on their own website. No wonder why I get virtually no image searchers anymore.
