Things have been changing with 302 redirects lately. Since the information about using a 301 has been widely followed. it seems to me that Google started accommodating the 302 redirect.
I'd suggest you check whether the new target URL for the redirect is getting direct Google Search traffic. If it is, you probably shouldn't make any changes. If they aren't, then switch to a 301.
