I checked Webmaster Tools and the www version is also verified.

Any reason for why the www version showed up as not verified and now it is showing up as verified?

Is it possible that there was a recrawl of the home page and after that it became verified?

If there are other reasons that you think of for why the www version became verified, I would appreciate if you could mention them.

Is it possible that I did something so the www version of the site was not verified?

I am not sure if this helps to analyze this but the Webmaster Tools is offered by the web host. It is a feature of their hosting plan.
