You could always remove all ads for a few weeks and see what happens. You mentioned traffic not converting, does the site sell product or is it an affiliate site or did you mean doesn't convert into ad clicks or signups? I'm trying to get an idea of what type of site you have to go with the 70% traffic loss.

I have a site with a lot of ads and one with none, neither saw any change around Oct 11th.
