I have one old time client who is having a website with nearly 18k pages of content. The site has been running for past 5-6 years but has lost almost all of its traffic in the past one year.
18K pages were created over a period of 6 years by posting 5-10 pages per day.
The client approached me to advice on how they should proceed.
There are two strategies on which we were planning to experiment.
1. To close the current website. Let the search engines remove all the content which has been posted on this site.
2. After 2 weeks or so, start with a new domain and shift all the content on the new domain.
1. The site content is mainly related to health topics.
2. Create small niche websites on specific health topics like diabetes, weight loss and other categories and divide the current 18k pages on these websites. The plan is to post content gradually.
In both cases, there is no plan to build any links or spend money on any other SEO efforts.
Please advice if such a thing will work or if someone has tried such a thing in the recent past.
Anyway, there isn't any use of current content on current website. So, why not try something. It may work.
I have not been in touch with SEO strategies in recent times due to Panda and Penguin issues as things were going pretty much upside down for many publishers.
Please pardon my ignorance as i have been busy with some other things during the past few months.
