A while ago I noticed that one of my competitors was pinning almost any image from his own website and thus creating a massive amount of (no follow) links. We are talking about hundreds, maybe thousands of images. The name of his pinboard is his domain name.

For a while it looked like this was a good strategy and his rankings improved a lot. The past week however his rankings have been dropping like a stone. Could it be because of the many pins?
