I'm saying that the addition of 7 links to this particular page causes a repeatable disruption in traffic. I can't say for sure it's because of the site I'm linking to, it's a well known and respected site, but I have several months of this data to confirm it's happening.

You can add negative signals into the mix, affiliate links(even unpaid with nofollow applied) being one of them.
