I was hit in the initial Feb 2011 panda. Despite incredible amounts of work, improvement in metrics, quality etc etc... it seems that from Friday, traffic has dropped a further 20-25%. Go figure. I just don't get it. I really don't.

It's a little confusing. Because while I like to think that maybe you just missed whatever triggered the penalty in the first place. Why wouldn't a significant improvement in metrics help at all? And as in your case, a further drop.

I would just keep improving and creating great content. Double check for internal duplicate content.
