Out of curiosity, for people who were victims of Penguin, how do your rank for plural / singular variations of your keyword(s) that were hit.

I don't think this is a new thing. None of the sites I oversee were hit by Penguin, but we've *always* had issues on plurals and singulars. I even have vastly different quality scores in AdWords on them. Google hasn't done a good job on those for a long time.

Re the updowner thing - I have a boatload of links from that place in my GWT for several sites. Thousands and thousands. I'm pretty sure Google isn't counting them, because it's a useless site that allows garbage pages to be indexed. And it doesn't seem to have affected anything of mine when they first showed up. Got no boost, and got no drop.
