Is Google actually updating new pages?

Not sure about updating existing page that were published in the last 30 days, but as far as digesting NEW content (using pubsubhubhub, xml sitemap, rpc pings, etc) it's nearly instant for us.

Even on a site being pressured from Penguin, the new content is indexed and ranking as expected, almost immediately.
