BillyS, on this site we did not remove the "generator" meta tag, because we are not concerned about security so this is in the source:

Joomla has gotten very good about nagging users to upgrade. You get reminded of the need to update to the latest version on the back end and it is a one touch operation, similar to what WordPress uses.
