If there are a lot of unnatural links to old URLs on a site, and these URLs are currently 301-ing to current pages (previously to maintain any benefit they might have passed through), would it 'satisfy' Google if these old URLs are simply 410d (and therefore there is no gain/benefit from these links in terms of Google)? Or would Google not be happy until the links are removed from the third-party sites?
