This is going way off-topic, I think, so I'll leave it at this:

How is Google supposed to know you want to buy apples when all you type in is [apples]? Whether Google hits the nail on the head or is wildly off target, it's only ever returning what it thinks you asked for.

A little deeper thinking and a lot less ranting about these issues would be a benefit to everyone.
