mhansen, like you, we are doing ok right now - overall organic google referrals and conversions are actually pretty strong - this is in spite of massive swings.

notwithstanding our performance, these are the worst serps i have ever seen from google. on the long tail, at least. i say this both as a webmaster looking at the variance in quality of referrals and as a user when i query specific items (as i usually do). the degradation of the title attribute was the death knell for on-page factors in the algo - we have an endless number of over-intellectualized off-page and ethereal factors that have completely trumped the actual content of pages.
