What amazes me is that I would never test a major code change on my live server. I have a development box for that. But these guys are shooting from the hip with big changes that affect live data. And they are serving up junk SERPS to lots of users and they know it. Why do they do that? We see these big swings. That tells us that either they are testing algo changes or they don't have the horsepower to crunch all of the changes into new indexes at once. So SERPS and user experience suffer.
