My site has two section, 650px left, content area and 330px right sidebar for links to inner pages. There are two sections of right sidebar, 160px each, sidebar left, sidebar right.
Before I had a 336 unit float to right in the 650px content area and two 160x600 units in sidebar left.
On many inner pages I had 336 in 650 content area, centered on the top of the content block. (white space on each side, content below the ad unit).
And on few inner pages I had a big affiliate unit right below the centered 336 unit.
I think these inner pages caused the rankings drop for the whole site.
Now I have made drastic changes, I have no ad unit in the content area. Two 160x600 in right sidebar, and a 300 block way below in sidebar.
I wonder of I should remove the 300 unit as well, maybe it has something to do with total content to total ads ratio.
My traffic and CTR are almost half of what they used to be before 19th January. Huge drop in earnings.
Also I fixed the canonical problem of inner pages of site, now without slash urls redirect to the slash version.
My site had authority rankings for many keyword phrases for a long time. So I don't think the problem is with the content. My site gets regularly updated, however the new content shows up on inner pages. Paginated content...1,2,3,4....50...50th page would have new content. I don't want to reverse this order, cos if someone would link to page 5, the content would get changed with time.
