Frost_Angel first of all I am sorry this has happened to you:Frost_Angel a good SEO professional don't or won't ever say the only way to rank is by getting links. If they do run don't walk. I am afraid you were wearing racing wings when you went into this. Racing wings keep horses from looking around just straight ahead. You made a poor decision hired a poor company so please don't think all SEO companies work that way. Rolling my eyes back at ya :)

A few questions for you.
1- Did you allow access to the site FTP etc to this SEO company?
2- Getting links from a bunch of poor sites should not cause this issue.
3- It sounds like the company did more than links. I would do a search through the site for hidden problems your not aware of, sounds like there is more to this than links.
4- Yes if you can't find the issue find another SEO firm or post here and we would be more than happy to help you find the issue.
5- I was under this took about a year to come out, but like I said I would make sure there isn't something else not seen yet that might be the issue.
