Yep. For a company with an algorithm supposedly light years ahead of the competition they certainly smack a lot of sites manually now. Perhaps their algo has no clothes after all.
Good luck with your reconsideration request. You could try letting them know that the crazy links are not under your control, and that just might help. More likely you'll get their standard email ten to fifteen ndays later telling you the site breaks undisclosed guidelines so tough luck. You'll get no help from G in working out just what's wrong with your site (in their eyes) though so be prepared for a long haul. You could try breaking it up into several smaller sites using 301s and with luck they will only ban a bit that is breaking their 'quality guidelines'. You may find scrapping the site and starting again more profitable but bear in mind you may get slapped again. If you do launch a new site make it as anonymous as possible and don't under any circumstances list it in WMT.
