If you want to rank well in Google, have a 10 year old site that you haven't touched in 1 or more years. That's what I've learned from since Panda 1.0.

Don't get any links to it, don't redesign it, don't add or subtract content, don't change the meta title - don't do anything, and Google thinks you are a good webmaster.
