They have less ads above the fold now..in fact just the one ..when they were hit they had an ad in the header ..and the 300x250 box at the right ..now they just have the 300x250..nav and content area is about the same as it was..proportion of adspace above the fold is half of what it was ..
I noticed that too but I have done just the opposite and loaded my site up for bear with ads, thanks to a Google adsense email that told me to. If I get pandalized for adding ads when Google told me I should then I think I'll want an answer in small claims. In other words I doubt ads had much to do with it as evidenced by the fact I'm not losing rank, yet.
Disclaimer: I have no intention of suing Google, we have all wanted to at some point or another which is normal. I also have no intention of leaving my site loaded with ads, the non-performers will be history in short order :-)
Yikes, for kicks I just compared my site to the daniweb site on that quancast page linked in the first post, using the compare feature, and my graph looks the same. I got Pandalized and have just recovered! (which is news to me)
