Well it goes like this.
I have a personal portfolio website and I have it from a 2 years now. But I didn't G optimized it at all for a year and a half. Now its on 5th page with a middle competitive keyword phrase.
Till' yesterday I monitored my site with AWstats of my host provider C-panel. And yesterday I register with G Analytics. After I put the verification code, I asked a couple of friends of mine, to type my "kyword phrase" in google and visit my site from Google. Now when G showed my first report, it goes like this.
Visits 12:
google (organic) -> Visits: 6 -> %Visits 50.00%
(direct) ((none))-> Visits: 3 -> %Visits 25.00%
And here are 3 visits from some forums. But I don't think that those forums links (which are "mysite.com" type) gives me any ranking boost (besides the visits itself). I also don't think that the direct traffic can rank me up on this "keyword phrase".
So my site got 2 positions up for this "keyword phrase" for one day.
And I asked myself, how powerful actually is the organic search in front of anything else.
