Actually ( although only Brett and maybe the admins know the figures ) ..I'd say there are less regular posters here now than there were at the time of Florida, lot of "nicks" posting then, that I never see nowadays at all, but those posting nowadays on panda at least are smaller in numbers , but very more vocal, especially those who got hit.
That applies whether they were already members when panda rolled or if they came in after, the same few nicks are in all the panda threads.
As tangor said ..many came in due to Florida, a lot stuck around, I somehow don't think a lot of the new ones will do that this time, it appears that many of them had sites and in some cases businesses and even staff, empires great and small, and lifestyles and mortgages etc, built entirely around Google, and frequently ( but not always , because yes there was some collateral damage, but not as many "innocents" as some posting would like you to think ) pure MFA or as near to it as makes no difference..Many more were running on easy money pre panda than pre Florida.
Many of those IMO , know why they were hit, and quite simply cannot change their model, and are hoping that by sheer size they will be able to re-rank with some minor cosmetic tweaks and continue to ride the ads and adsense funded gravy train, albeit with less expensive overheads..
Others were running as scrapers/ spinners but not really clever ones, just tricky enough to get the clicks with other peoples material on their sites and got caught, they'll try to retool, re-scrape other material,..they may survive..I ( as one who has been scraped ) would like to hope that they don't, even if Panda didn't affect me except to make me rise a little in some places ..
The MFA machines like ehow etc ( some of the smaller "machines" owners have indeed been posting here ) will likely sit tight, shed staff, and their owners look for buyers..
Because if they were not around during the time of Florida, they have now learned that to build all your business on the back of another, is asking to be scratched when the beast itches.
Those of us who were around ( even if not members here ) saw the casualties after Florida, and the astute diversified enough or saved enough to if one day we got scratched off in error for a while along with the parasites and had to climb part of our businesses back on the animal again.
