If that's the case, might it not be reasonable to think that they might not move too quickly while that initial process works its way through the system?
If it makes your site better, I don't see a reason to "wait and see" - improving your site and content should help whether or not Google comes through with a fix.
i'm still having a hard time defining 'thin'.
At this point I'm going to announce the eHow Principle: "You can never be too rich or too thin". Seriously, I think this is principally about "unique", not about "thinness".
