I don't think your searches are proof that your rankings are static as many are reporting changes in traffic on an hourly basis. What your reporting depends on what time of day your friends are searching. I do believe that serps are no longer static and depends on the searchers IP address. I will elaborate further tomorrow as my daughter is about to arrive at my UK home from Australia, sorry for my brief reply.
