When Google introduced universal search, one of their justifications was that it would bring more variety and more choices to searchers. Actually, the main result was the greatly increased exposure of Youtube videos. Once they accomplished that, they started moving in the opposite direction, toward less variety and fewer choices.
Recently I've been seeing three Wikipedia pages at the top of a lot of my searches. But the second and third pages usually turn out to be only remotely relevant to the search term. Apparently Google wants three Wikipedia pages at the top no matter what.
