A while back - about 2 years - we changed our url structure using 301 permanent redirects from old to new url's.
I ran an analysis on our web logs over the last two months and saw that there were still 301 redirects happening (4.76% of all page visits), I could not however tell if these were coming from users or search engines. Would you say this is bad for SEO? Would it be more preferable to stick a 404 header in and show google that the page does not exist any more?
Looking forward to your response.
