Let's leave the philosophy and editorial comment behind for now. There's really no end to this kind of exchange, not much convincing others of your POV, and very little to help improve your search traffic, either.
This thread exists to discuss "Google Updates and SERP Changes - July 2010". It can be a resource where we all get to compare notes about what's shifting in various SERPs, what's changing - and how we can learn and adapt our own businesses.
This week, I've seen a significant "tightening up" on the relevance - a lot fewer "similar spelling but a different word" in the results, etc. For the SERPs I watch, the chaos of the recent past has gone away - almost like an experiment that didn't work.
