The name of the game, post mayday, is to grab as many other sources of other peoples content as you can muster and mash it up on your site next to at least minimal original content. It's very possible to jump ahead of the sources you are mashing up from with their own content.
Err, post PayDay.
This has become a very disturbing thing. A legitimate page can be penalized for over-optimization by using a keyword three times instead of twice. While on the other hand content can be hijacked and rewarded. To me Google seems to be increasing content theft on the Internet for Adsense purposes when for a while it was decreasing. Those filters and algos have been loosened to allow this. Quite a few of what Google considers to be the highest quality branded authority sites seemed to have jumped on the bandwagon with this. Meanwhile your reworded stolen content soon finds its way to the top because the authority site has so many back links. Something stinks in Mountainview.
