To add some fire to the <table> vs <div> formating, I just read a technical post by the BBC about the semantic engine they built for their World Cup page ([bbc.co.uk ]), and the thing is so complicated, it makes my little index.php engined pages look like BASIC Hello World programs (and I didn't understand much of how it actually works).
Yet, the actual page that is semantically generated: [news.bbc.co.uk ], still uses <table> for formatting.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Incremental changes and fixes are much better IMHO. Fix little things first, it can be done quicker and it gives G time to adjust. And if you have to back out a little change, that's way easier.
