OTOH, I'm not all that thrilled that an outside third party will be ranking "my" content against others in a speed contest, particularly since we don't know what kind of race is being run.
Couldn't the same argument be used WRT the other 195+ or so variables they don't explicitly tell us about? At least they came out and said, 'Hey, you don't have to speculate or guess, we're using this...', which seems rare indeed, and I'm not sure how people who happily accept their content will be ranked by a third party based on variables they are not explicitly told will be used have any more of a problem with them explicitly telling us about a variable they will use, even if not exactly how?
I know I'm picking on you a bit tangor, but my point is more generally than that and IDK why people are whining and complaining when at least the people who used keywords for ranking purposes for years are telling us about this one rather than leaving it to be speculated and a guessed at to decide whether it's a factor or not, which means we can jump directly to how, doesn't it? Now go get your foil out, make yourself a shiny new hat and figure out how they are calculating speed, then let us know when you have it figured out, alright? Thanks! LOL.
