Hmmmm... Might be what you're seeing is more 'query dependent' or 'site dependent' even, because Thurs is almost always my busiest day on one (it's looking like today could actually be a record (a good one, not the 'is the site broken? #*$!' record) if it keeps up), but 'averagerish' or so on others. I'm not seeing a 'definite down' trend at all.
