Would you break webmaster guidelines to do so?

I adopt the second of those mental states and accept a lower return by spending big on Adwords and paper based media advertising. As a result my brand is too valuable to accept a Google ban. Also I'm in this for the long term in a market that has a long memory.

If you spend enough time on this forum you will get used to hearing the same old stories of people who have given up their day job because their web site started to make money and now through some Google penalty or change in algorithm their income has been slashed. These folks never did a SWOT analysis or missed out considering the big T at the end. The point is it is fine to rely on Google organic serps for your business but if you do you constantly have a major threat hanging over you. You have to have a plan B that you really believe in. In that situation I would salt away as much cash as I possibly could during good times to keep me going if the harvest fails.
