Watching the new update I'm wondering if you should do entries to directories or not. Often directories have no PR on the pages (PR grey), but I used the entries to vary the keywords by only sometimes using the keyword in the anchor-text, which makes you able to use the keyword as anchor for the links from authority-pages for example.

But now I think: If you got to much links from directories you have to get a lot links from other sources to balance your backlink-profile.

What do you think? Could it be bad to use directories or is it just useless work or can you really spread the variety of your keywords with that?
