tedster - Thanks for that video link. In addition to explaining how Google will be reporting positioning, Matt Cutts also mentions in the video (at about 50-seconds in) that the new search string will have the query embedded in it.

This partially addresses the question I had above, which was prompted by the lack of the query in the search string as it was originally announced.
