I don't think the problem is that widespread for AU/UK results though. I currently see only a tiny percentage of mismatched sites:

4 com.au sites in "pages from the UK" [google.co.uk]
8 co.uk sites in "pages from Australia" [google.com.au]

I think a number of Wikipedia servers are physically in the UK, incidentally.
