sorry dave_H why are you so jaundiced?
1. Adwords is profitable for google
2. analytics is only available when you use adwords ( look 1. )
3. why should google choose the hard way to get the information, if there is an easy way to get it?
4. if there´s a an WMT or not for collection data is not the question, the question is are all webmasters ( also the non Professional ) aware of WMT or are only the Seo´s and profit-generating seos aware of it? get the idea!
5. Thousand of non existend URLs ( Site search related ) are communicated to google by WMT. Are normal-weekend homepage home constructors are doing this?

To except it, has s.o. suffered, with his site not registered in WMT?
