P1R, again, you have addressed something that has been in the back of my mind, and its the idea of crosslinking through-out the site that can compensate for a smaller menu, but the flip-side is that the revelation process is slower as the visitor has to traverse multiple pages before getting a better understanding of how much is available through out the site.
And on smaller sites where there aren't that many pages, with a possibility of some of those pages not being listed in any of the search indexs, what about the pages that are orphaned from the omittance?
That is probably the main reason why I use a sitemap, xml for engines, and html for humans. So that the one or two off pages have some way to get accessed...
